Plastic Injection Moulding FAQs

Injection Workshop Wide

Answers to common questions about plastic parts produced on our moulding floor.

How large a part can you mould?

Our presses range from 50 to 1300 tons clamping force. The largest machines handle shot weights up to 8500 g (PS basis), which covers parts such as bumpers, chairs, crates and appliance housings. At the other end we mould precision parts from 0.1 g.

Which materials do you mould?

Commodity and engineering resins including PP, PE, ABS, PC, PC/ABS, PA (including glass-filled grades), POM, PMMA, PS, PBT and TPE. We can recommend a grade for your application or use the exact grade you specify.

Can you match a specific colour?

Yes. Parts can be moulded in natural or clear materials, standard colours or colours matched to a Pantone reference or sample, using masterbatch or pre-coloured compounds.

Can you mould around metal inserts?

Yes. Threaded inserts, pins and stamped parts can be insert-moulded, or inserts can be added after moulding by heat staking or ultrasonic insertion. We also offer overmoulding and two-shot (2K) moulding for soft-touch grips and two-colour parts.

Do you handle finishing and assembly as well?

Yes. Pad printing, silk screening, painting, plating, ultrasonic welding and assembly are carried out in-house, so you can receive finished, packed components. See surface finishing and assembly and packaging.

Can you confirm RoHS and REACH compliance?

We purchase resins from established suppliers and can provide their material data sheets and RoHS / REACH declarations for the grades used in your parts.

How do you control quality in production?

First-article inspection before release, in-process checks at defined intervals and final inspection before packing, under our ISO 9001 quality system. Read more on our quality page.

Can you schedule deliveries over the year?

Yes. For repeat orders we can produce against a forecast and call off deliveries as you need them, to reduce your stock and set-up costs.
