Forging is one of the process routes in our metal component work. It shapes solid metal under pressure, producing dense parts that suit components carrying high or repeated loads.
What we cover
- Route selection – reviewing forging against casting and machining from bar at the quotation stage
- Forged blanks – supplied as intermediate parts
- Machining and heat treatment – bores, faces and threads brought to size
- Finishing and assembly – deburring, surface finishing and assembly
Why it matters
Forging is rarely the only step. Forging redistributes the billet material into a near-net shape, which reduces the amount that must be machined away, and the machined features deliver the accuracy. Reviewing both together decides how much stock to leave and where the datums go, which affects both the cost and the result.
