Sand Cast Parts for Low-Volume Metal Programmes

Rough aluminium sand castings with machined faces

Sand casting is one of the process routes in our metal component work. It suits parts that are too large, too thick or ordered in too small a quantity to justify a metal die, and it lets a design reach real metal parts at a low tooling cost.

What we cover

  • Route selection – reviewing sand casting against gravity permanent-mould, die and investment casting at the quotation stage
  • Sand castings to drawing – housings, brackets, covers and similar parts
  • Secondary machining – faces, bores and threads that the casting cannot hold on its own
  • Finishing and assembly – deburring, heat treatment, surface finishing and assembly

Why it matters

A low-cost pattern makes sand casting a practical way to prove a design or supply a small programme. If quantities grow later, the same part can be reviewed again for gravity permanent-mould casting or die casting, usually with some design changes.
